Back to Back Ironman World Champion, Patrick LangeOct 15, 2018
Once again we offer our biggest congratulations to Fusion Pro Patrick Lange, Ironman World Champion 2017 and 2018, along with a new sub 8 hour course record.
It's worth taking a step back to summarise Patrick's Kona achievements.
2016 on debut at Kona. Off the bike in 23rd place and then running a blistering 2:39 marathon through to 3rd position. Breaking Mark Allan's 27 year old course record from back in 1989. A podium and run course record on debut.
2017 Patrick was off the bike in 11th and with another sub 2:40 marathon was able to run through all ahead of him to take the win. Going one step better than 2016 with a win and a new overall course record of 8:01.
2018 Coming 18th out of the swim, a strong bike had Patrick coming off in 9th, a better position than in 2017. Then once again releasing the run weapon to be the first to go sub 8 hours in Kona, beating his own course record, finishing in a time of 7:52.
Now 3 Kona appearances, a podium and back to back wins along with the first sub 8 and course record holder. The icing on the cake a marriage proposal on the finish line. Absolutely epic!
